Bentley Patton
Quiet confidence. Built to deliver.
Junior Rider
Location
Colorado Springs, CO
Bentley Patton is 13 years old and already riding with polish well beyond his years. A junior hunter competitor with serious feel, Bentley is known for his adaptability, thoughtful horsemanship, and a confident love of catch riding. Hand him a new horse, a new challenge, or a fresh set of reins—he reads the ride quickly and makes it look easy.
At just 11, Bentley stepped onto the national stage at the National Junior Hunter Finals – West Coast, earning a top finish aboard Dipped in Chrome. That same year, he took on the pressure of the USEF Pony Finals with his medium pony, Game Day, proving he could deliver when it mattered. At 12, he returned to the National Junior Hunter Finals – West Coast with Dipped in Chrome, backing up his results with consistency, confidence, and composure beyond his age. Now 13, Bentley has qualified both Dipped in Chrome and his newest partner, Qasall, for the National Junior Hunter Finals—no guesswork, just execution.
Bentley isn’t just chasing ribbons—he’s building horses. He takes pride in developing mounts and setting them up for their next riders, a process that’s led to wins in junior and amateur classics and a reputation for riding with intention. National Hunter Derbies are where his smooth style and measured precision stand out.
He trains at LillyWood Show Stables alongside his mom, Karen Patton, and also rides and competes with Michael Dennehy and Toni Hrudka of Bridlewood Farm. Additional training with Karen Healey rounds out his program, giving Bentley exposure to multiple top professionals and a broad, educated approach to the sport.
Away from the show ring, Bentley puts in the work that refines great riders—night checks at the family farm, daily care, and consistent time in the barn. When he’s not showing, he attends Mountain Ridge Middle School as a seventh grader and plays on the eighth-grade football team. While traveling, he balances his riding schedule with online schooling, staying focused both in and out of the saddle.
Looking ahead, Bentley’s goals include competing in an international hunter derby by age 14, qualifying for the Hamel Foundation National Horse Show Medal Finals and the Maclay Finals, and continuing to grow as a horseman defined by feel, focus, and finesse.
Four Fun Facts About Bentley:
